José Carreras, one of the most prominent opera singers of his generation, will perform at the Pula Arena accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, presenting some of the most famous arias and songs.
Carreras is world-renowned for his exceptional vocal technique, deep emotional expression, and his interpretations of roles in the operas of Verdi and Puccini. Born in Spain, his extraordinary artistry has captivated audiences around the globe.
Over the course of his remarkable career, Carreras has performed more than 60 roles both on stage and in recording studios. His voice, known for its remarkable warmth and expressiveness, has captured the attention of listeners worldwide. Carreras has also achieved impressive commercial success, with over 85 million records sold, making him one of the most commercially successful opera singers of all time.
What sets him apart is not only his voice but also his extraordinary contribution to the fight against leukemia. After surviving the disease in 1987, he founded the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation, dedicated to supporting research and treatment.
Following his recovery, he embraced a new role as an opera ambassador. A passionate football fan, Carreras came up with the idea for The Three Tenors on the occasion of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. He and his friends Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti initially planned just one concert, but due to its overwhelming popularity, they went on to perform together more than 30 times, breaking records that remain unmatched in classical music.
